GAZA: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has described Gaza as “a killing field” as Israeli airstrikes continue to pound the besieged territory. On Tuesday alone, at least 26 Palestinians were killed in fresh attacks by Israeli forces.

Medical aid group Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported that one of its clinics was nearly hit in an Israeli strike on the al-Mawasi area, which has been declared a “safe zone” by Israeli authorities. The group expressed concern for the safety of civilians and medical staff in the area.

In another incident, new footage has emerged showing the bombing of a charity-run kitchen in Khan Younis on Monday. The kitchen had been providing food to displaced families in the southern part of Gaza.

Meanwhile, US forces have continued airstrikes in Yemen, killing at least six people in the port city of Hodeidah. The attacks are part of a broader campaign targeting the Houthis, who have expressed solidarity with Gaza.

In Lebanon, Israeli warplanes launched strikes on the Baalbek and Bekaa Valley regions, escalating tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported on Tuesday that at least 50,810 Palestinians have been confirmed killed and 115,688 wounded since the start of the war. However, the Government Media Office in Gaza put the death toll at more than 61,700, citing thousands still missing under the rubble and presumed dead.

The war began after the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which left at least 1,139 Israelis dead and over 200 taken captive. The Israeli military response has since led to large-scale destruction and mass casualties in Gaza.

International aid agencies continue to raise alarms over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the enclave. Access to food, water, and medical supplies remains extremely limited, with hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes.

Efforts for a ceasefire have yet to yield results, while regional violence linked to the conflict continues to expand. The United Nations has urged for immediate humanitarian access and a halt to the fighting to prevent further civilian deaths.
