CBI nets absconder in 1989 Rubiya Sayeed kidnapping case from Srinagar

Srinagar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested Shafat Ahmed Shangloo, an absconder wanted in connection with the 1989 kidnapping of Dr. Rubiya Sayeed, daughter of former Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, officials said.

Shangloo, who had been evading law for over three decades, allegedly conspired with Yasin Malik and others in committing the crime under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) in 1989.

The accused was carrying a reward of Rs. 10 lakh on his head, the CBI said in a press release via the Press Information Bureau (PIB), as per Kashmir News Service (KNS).

Shangloo will be produced before the TADA Court in Jammu within the stipulated time as per legal procedures.(KNS).
