SRINAGAR: With Srinagar MP and senior National Conference leader Aga Ruhullah refusing to campaign for the party’s candidate in the Budgam by-poll, Chief Minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah on Monday said he has never forced anyone to participate in an election campaign or to stay away from it.

Referring to Ruhullah’s decision, Omar said it would not affect the party’s outreach efforts.“The National Conference has plenty of leaders who are actively taking part in the campaign and continuing outreach across constituencies,” he said, as per KNS.

“The party has enough people for the campaign. No one is being forced,” Omar added.

Notably, tensions between Aga Ruhullah and the National Conference have escalated in recent days. Ruhullah has openly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of mocking the very people who elected him.

He said the Chief Minister was using language against his own constituents that should have been reserved for the BJP, whom he described as the real oppressors of those voters.(KNS)
