Aligarh: A man standing near his house to have sehri, the pre-dawn meal before the Ramzan fast, was brutally gunned down by four men on motorcycles in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh on Friday.
The shocking attack, captured on CCTV, shows the assailants firing multiple bullets at the victim, ensuring he was dead before fleeing the scene.
The victim, identified as Haris alias Katta, had just returned from playing a cricket match and was standing near his house in Telipada, Roravar, when the assailants arrived.
CCTV footage shows Haris watching as two motorcycles pull up beside him around 3:15 am. As soon as he realizes the danger, he turns in an attempt to shield himself, but the pillion rider on the first bike shoots him.
Haris stumbles as the attacker fires two more shots.As Haris collapses, the first shooter fires another bullet into him before getting back on the bike.
Meanwhile, the second assailant, riding pillion on the other motorcycle, steps down, struggles to cock his gun, and then fires three more bullets into Haris before both attackers speed away.
According to NDTV, the police suspect the attack may have been due to a personal enmity, but other motives are also being investigated. Assistant Superintendent of Police Mayank Pathak confirmed that authorities were informed of the incident around 3:30 am, and Haris was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.A relative of the victim, Shoaib, insisted that Haris had no enmity with anyone.
“We had come here for sehri around 3 am. That’s when Haris was shot. There was no enmity. These people (the shooters) are criminals,” he said. The Aligarh Police have registered a case and launched a probe into the gruesome murder. The CCTV footage is being examined to identify the assailants and ascertain the exact motive behind the killing.
